Charlotte, NC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Anthony Fox was recently honored with the Ernest H. Ball and Frayda S. Bluestein Award for Excellence in Municipal Law. Anthony was nominated by his peers and celebrated at the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys' (NCAMA) summer conference.
Established by the NCAMA and nicknamed the "Ball-Bluestein Award," it recognizes professionals who have made valuable contributions to the field of municipal law. The NCAMA's board of directors approves the award winners.
For more than 30 years, Anthony has been representing municipalities in North Carolina, from Wilmington to Asheville. He has developed vast knowledge of North Carolina’s municipal and public-private partnership legal landscape. He is a past president of the NCAMA. Through his legal work, he has helped local governments across the state better serve North Carolinians.
Anthony has also shown a deep dedication to serving the Charlotte community and the state as a whole. Governors and mayors of both major political parties have appointed him to local and state boards and commissions, including most recently the City of Charlotte’s Airport Commission. He has served as chair of the United Way of Central Carolinas and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, vice chair of the Charlotte Citizens Review Board, general counsel of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and director and secretary of the Mecklenburg County Bar.
The North Carolina Bar Association has honored Anthony as a Legal Legend of Color. At Parker Poe, Anthony was the first African American to serve on the firm’s board of directors. Today, he continues advising cities and towns on a range of issues, from defending their positions on complex legal matters like annexation, zoning, construction, and land use disputes, to shaping public-private developments or structuring municipal acquisitions.
