Since the COVID-19 pandemic, employers are faced with an increased number of employees requesting leave and other workplace accommodations based on mental health issues, including stress, depression, and anxiety. In many situations, the employees claim that work is the cause of or exacerbates their conditions.
On November 14, Parker Poe partners Jonathan Crotty, Sherry Culves, and Tory Summey presented a webinar reviewing employers’ obligations and options when responding to employee requests for accommodations relating to mental health conditions.
The topics included:
- FMLA leave and intermittent leave requests.
- Accommodating work-related stress conditions.
- Responding to requests for remote work and reduced duty.
- Obtaining independent medical evaluations of employees’ abilities and limitations.
