Raleigh, NC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce Nana Asante-Smith was recently appointed to serve on the advisory board for the Durham YMCA.
The Durham YMCA is a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to helping children, adults, and families live healthier, more productive lives in spirit, mind, and body. The Y seeks to be part of closing the opportunity gap for under-served people in Durham. It offers a variety of evidence-based educational and health programs in partnership with Durham County Public Schools and with hundreds of philanthropic partners. It has served the Durham community since 1888.
Nana's role on the advisory board is the latest example of her dedication to supporting her community and her fellow attorneys. She serves on the board of directors for Duke University's alumni network in the Triangle. In addition, she is the former chair of the Durham Mayor's Council for Women and the former president of the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers and the George H. White Bar (Durham County’s Black bar association).
At Parker Poe, Nana concentrates her practice on business litigation, internal investigations, and allegations of sex discrimination at colleges and universities. She has represented clients in industries such as financial services, health care, manufacturing, and education.
