In early February, Christian Torgrimson and Elizbeth Story spoke at the American Law Institute's Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation conference in New Orleans.
Christian served as a planning co-chair of the conference's Condemnation 101 program. She was also part of an ethics panel on February 2 on lawyer well-being, which explored how the movie Groundhog Day can offer lessons related to breaking out of old routines.
Elizabeth Story presented on February 1 in a session about learning to assess and deal with damages caused by third parties in a condemnation action. She explained how local jurisdiction requirements may trigger additional damage to property and business owners that must be evaluated as part of an owner’s right to just and adequate compensation.
The ALI-CLE conference was in its 41st year. It brought together attorneys and other professionals from around the country to explore the latest trends and provide insights on eminent domain and land valuation practice.
