The U.S. Department of Education on April 19 issued its long-awaited new Title IX rule, which strengthens federal protections for students regarding sex discrimination. The new rule, which takes effect on August 1, updates the procedure K-12 schools must follow when investigating and adjudicating cases of alleged sexual misconduct. Title IX applies to all schools that receive federal funding.
