Katherine Ross, Ellen Smith, and Lauren Foster outlined the top trends of 2025 related to utility scale solar projects during the State Bar of Georgia’s Real Property Law Institute in Amelia Island, Florida.
Katherine, Ellen, and Lauren provided an overview of the development process, from the initial steps of checking availability of capacity at substations and transmission lines to identifying parcels around substations with capacity to permitting, design, and engineering in the diligence phase. They also discussed how to define property usage during the term of a lease, address third-party leases on the property such as for farm and hunting, and ensure compliance with environmental and land use laws.
The Real Property Law Institute brings together attorneys across Georgia advising clients on commercial and residential property.
