Beth Morris and Reagan Sauls outlined steps school districts need to take to ensure compliance with 14 education-related bills that were passed by the Georgia legislature this year as part of a Coastal Plains RESA training.
Beth and Reagan discussed obligations for schools under the Distraction-Free Education Act, which bans personal electronic devices at schools for K-8 students and a bill that states students cannot be expelled due to absenteeism. Their presentation also provided insights for school administrators on bills that require strict student record sharing between districts when students transfer and new requirements to identify students with characteristics of dyslexia.
Coastal RESA is committed to assisting its member school systems in providing the most effective education possible. Its annual conference offers training and support for member school districts.
