Bruce Thompson was quoted in The Telegraph about the North Carolina Senate race set to become the most expensive in U.S. history.

Bruce noted that North Carolina will play a decisive role in Senate control and consistently holds close races between Republicans and Democrats, making it a key swing state.

“These elections become more nationalized because of the fact that there is so much riding on them,” Bruce told the publication.

Bruce noted that Michael Whatley running against a high-profile candidate like Roy Cooper demands a substantial financial backing, stating, “You have to raise a lot. You’ve got to spend a lot of money to cut into that.” 

He also emphasized the role of outside money and super political action committees or PACs, saying “just one billionaire can have an outsized impact on the democratic process.”
