MaryGrace Bell Kittrell highlighted how special education educators and administrators can navigate manifestation determination reviews (MDRs) during LRP's National Institute on Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities conference in New Orleans.

MaryGrace focused her presentation on practical compliance tips for educators and administrators and how they can traverse the basics of what to do after an MDR arises. She provided insight on questions about whether MDRs reveal a potential new area of eligibility and how the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team decides how to amend the IEP at an interim alternative education setting.

She also explored whether a student is still entitled to an MDR under Section 504 if the parent has taken a detour and revoked consent for services under the IDEA.

The LRP's National Institute is a leading forum for issues regarding special education and is a trusted source for special educators by providing insights into legal issues around educating individuals with disabilities.
