Columbia, SC – Mallory Sparks has graduated from Leadership Columbia, a 10-month program through the Columbia Chamber of Commerce designed to educate and connect emerging and established leaders across the Midlands.

Mallory and the others in her class were selected based on their community involvement, capacity for leadership, commitment to improving the Midlands, and interest in enhancing their leadership skills. In addition to broadening their relationships across the region's business and civic communities, the program gave participants an inside view of wide-ranging initiatives to make the Midlands a great place to work, live, and play.

Mallory and her class also drove their own effort to strengthen the community through a partnership with the Cola Town Bike Collective. They contributed over 1,000 hours of service to support the nonprofit's mission to provide low and no-cost transportation to people in need across the Midlands. The class project included working to refurbish Cola Town Bike Collective's full-service bike shop and bike repair stations across the region to expand the nonprofit's reach and impact.

Mallory also serves the community through her role as secretary of the board of directors for the Carolinas Air Pollution Control Association and as a member of the leadership council for the South Carolina Bar's Environment and Natural Resources Section. At Parker Poe, she advises clients on environmental litigation and compliance. She previously worked in the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC, now the Department of Environmental Services or DES) Bureau of Air Quality.
