Best Lawyers Names Nine Parker Poe Attorneys 'Lawyer of the Year' for 2027

Charlotte, NC – Nine Parker Poe attorneys were named "Lawyer of the Year" by The Best Lawyers in America®, whose rankings are among the highest standard in the legal industry. The "Lawyer of the Year" recognition goes to the attorney with the best overall feedback from his or her peers for a specific practice area and geographic region.

Charleston, South Carolina

Robert Jordan was named "Lawyer of the Year" in banking and finance litigation. His practice focuses on complex commercial and business litigation, including class actions. He has extensive experience in banking, securities and financial services disputes. He is also a leader within Parker Poe, serving as the firm's Charleston Office Development Partner.

Charlotte, North Carolina

John Beyer was named "Lawyer of the Year" for healthcare litigation. It is the seventh time since 2018 he has been voted the top attorney in a practice area related to litigation or medical malpractice. He has 25 years of jury trial experience representing hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other learned professionals. He serves as Parker Poe's general counsel.

Chip Ford was named "Lawyer of the Year" in bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law. Last year he was named "Lawyer of the Year" for bankruptcy litigation. Chip leads Parker Poe's Financial Restructuring & Insolvency Group and has 30 years of experience representing clients in business bankruptcy and financial restructuring transactions and related litigation.

Chip Holmes was named "Lawyer of the Year" in insurance law. It is the 13th straight year Chip has been voted the top attorney in a practice area related to litigation or insurance. He has more than 25 years of experience defending businesses and professionals and has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Richard Rivera was named "Lawyer of the Year" for medical malpractice law for defendants. It is the fourth time Richard has been voted the top attorney in that area or personal injury litigation since 2018. He routinely represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, allied medical professionals, and their insurers.

Columbia, South Carolina

Walt Cartin was named "Lawyer of the Year" for healthcare litigation. He has previously been voted the top attorney for healthcare law. Walt leads Parker Poe's Healthcare Industry Team and advises a diverse range of healthcare providers on litigation, transactions, and other elements of their daily operations and strategy.

Greenville, South Carolina

Amy Allen Hinson was named "Lawyer of the Year" for intellectual property litigation. Amy leads Parker Poe's Intellectual Property Group. She serves as outside general IP counsel to clients across a range of industries, partnering with them to develop strategic, customized, and globally focused intellectual property portfolios and litigation strategies that align with their business goals.

Raleigh, North Carolina

Melanie Dubis was named "Lawyer of the Year" for securities litigation. She chairs Parker Poe's Litigation Department and handles complex securities, patent, and other business disputes at the trial and appellate level for clients in the financial services, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, insurance, energy, education, and technology industries.

Chris Thomas was named "Lawyer of the Year" in copyright law. It is the sixth time Chris has been voted the top attorney in a practice area related to intellectual property since 2019. He concentrates his practice on intellectual property rights and disputes concerning them. He chairs the North Carolina Bar Association’s Copyright Committee.
