Law.com and Law360 highlighted a recent workshop that Parker Poe hosted at its Charlotte office that put clients and attorneys together at the same table to build and test AI apps addressing challenges that company leaders and legal counsel face together every day.
The publications highlighted how the vast majority of participants chose an executive briefing track, which focused on a common source of friction in the client relationship, translating detailed legal updates into information business leaders can readily use.
"Taking complex legal information and being able to reduce it into something that’s concise and audience-specific internally, that’s very valuable for people on the in-house side when they’re reporting up the chain, and not something that’s easily done," Raleigh partner Russell Killen, who leads the firm’s Technology Committee, told Law.com’s Legaltech News.
The goal of the workshop was figuring out use cases that mattered to clients, Raleigh partner Will Cannon, the firm’s Technology Industry Team leader, told Law360. Will noted a paradigm shift during the workshop as clients requested to create different legal status updates based on a person’s role.
Kristen Bateman Leis, the firm’s chief marketing and business development officer, told Law360 that the workshop was focused on moments where the client relationship breaks down, and AI was the tool used to fix them.
"I have spent much of my career listening to the voice of the client, and when you really listen to clients, they will tell you where the friction is with their law firms," Kristen told Law360. "We built with them, in the same room, at the same tables, to design what better looks like. We are not waiting to be handed an AI-era delivery model. We are shaping ours with the people who have to live in it."
