Economic development professionals and attorneys with the Business Investment & Incentives Group at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP and Parker Poe Consulting are helping Turkish non-woven fabric maker Mogul establish its first North American operation in Laurens County, South Carolina.
The company is purchasing a 91,000-square-foot facility at 100 ISO Poly Parkway in the Town of Gray Court with plans to invest $17.6 million and create 38 new jobs when the plant is fully operational in the second quarter of 2016. Mogul is based in Gaziantep, Turkey, and is a global leader in the production of nonwovens, including the spunlace and spunbond products like BICO PET Spunbond nonwovens which are to be produced under the Buffalo brand at its new Upstate South Carolina facility. They’ll be used for medical, hygienic and personal wet-wipes applications.
“We’re thrilled to be here. This expansion will allow us to better serve our North American customers and we plan to expand our capacities there to include more of our diverse product portfolio, including spunbond and meltblown nonwovens as well as coated and laminated fabrics,” says Ekrem Kayali, who founded Mogul in 1997 and serves as its Chairman.
“Mogul is an innovative leader in the new wave of advanced materials production worldwide. We’re excited they’re bringing that vision here to the Southeast US and pleased to have been able to help Mr. Kayali and his company secure the right location and other critical business conditions they needed to make this strategic decision for their company,” says Sam Moses, a Partner with Parker Poe and Co-Chair of the firm’s Business Incentives & Investment Group, “We join with Mogul in thanking all the private and public sector economic development allies in the State of South Carolina for making this European investment become a reality.”
“South Carolina just continues to build on its global reputation as a welcoming place for new and long-established international companies to expand and prosper. Working with a forward-thinking, ambitious firm like Mogul coming here to our region has been particularly gratifying,” says Elizabeth Gibbes, a Partner with Parker Poe in Charleston.
“We are thankful to have had the opportunity to provide support to Mogul in the process of locating to Gray Court. We are excited about their potential for success here in the US market,” says Mark Simmons, a Principal with Parker Poe Consulting, a wholly owned subsidiary of Parker Poe that provides diverse economic development services to clients across the U.S. and in Mexico.
