Tatum Barbaree provides strategic guidance on the evolving global compliance landscape covering cybersecurity, data governance, and data protection obligations. She has helped clients prepare for and respond to cybersecurity incidents, from developing and testing response plans and playbooks to navigating forensic investigations, assessing impacted systems and data, and meeting notification obligations.
Tatum has also negotiated cybersecurity and data governance aspects of contracts, partnering closely with clients' internal IT and legal teams. Additionally, she has counseled clients on cybersecurity and data privacy considerations in domestic and cross-border corporate transactions, including due diligence.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Tatum was a cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection associate at one of the world's largest law firms. She has also served as a legal extern for the Honorable Roger L. Gregory of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and as an intern with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
She earned her law degree from the University of Richmond, where she was a manuscripts editor for the University of Richmond Law Review. She earned her bachelor's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.
