Earlier this week, the federal Department of Labor announced the availability of a new poster containing the $5.85 minimum wage that takes effect on July 24.  The poster also indicates the subsequent increases in the minimum wage to $6.55 on July 24, 2008, and $7.25 on July 24, 2009.  Prior to the 2008 increase, most North Carolina employers remain subject to the state’s $6.15 minimum wage.  The new poster can be obtained at www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/posters/flsa.htm.
