Former South Carolina Department of Revenue Director Ray N. Stevens, a partner in the State & Local Tax group in Parker Poe’s Columbia Office, was interviewed by Tax Analysts for an article in State Tax Notes on new bill S 559. The bill encourages Congress to pass legislation that would allow states to require online retailers to collect sales taxes on interstate transactions.
Mr. Stevens is a member of the South Carolina Taxation Realignment Commission (TRAC), which recommended that the state work to find a way to collect sales taxes on online purchases.
