Greenville, S.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Tyler Smith and Michael Larsen are playing leading roles at The Institute, one of the premier national conferences covering legal issues associated with the municipal bond market. The Institute, formerly known as the Tax and Securities Law Institute, is organized by the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
Greenville partner Tyler Smith is serving as the chair of The Institute, helping to oversee the conference’s expanded focus and advanced discussions this year on an array of tax and securities law topics, including the new amendments to SEC Rule 15c2-12. Panels and discussions will explore the new Qualified Opportunity Zone program, disaster recovery relief legislation, and the impact of cryptocurrency on public finance. At Parker Poe, Tyler practices in the areas of both public and business finance as well as government and public policy. He has a particular focus on new markets tax credits and Opportunity Zones.
Charleston partner Michael Larsen is chairing a panel discussion at The Institute on advanced tax reissuance topics. His panel will break down the consequences of the termination of LIBOR, considerations relating to “Cinderella bonds,” and recent guidance from the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. At Parker Poe, Michael focuses his practice on the tax issues related to public finance transactions.
The Institute takes place March 7-8 in Bonita Springs, Florida.
