Raleigh, N.C. - Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Nana Asante-Smith has been appointed to the North Carolina State Judicial Council. Nana is among a group of members charged with helping to set funding priorities, advising on matters concerning the operations of the courts, setting performance standards for the courts, and monitoring the administration of justice and effectiveness of the state's judicial branch in serving the public.
Nana is a litigator in Parker Poe’s Raleigh office, where she focuses her practice on complex civil ligation, including breach of contract, unfair trade practice and securities cases, and government and internal investigations.
She is committed to her community and fellow attorneys, serving as president of the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers, political action coordinator of the People’s Alliance, member of the Durham Crisis Response Center’s board of directors, and member of the Durham Mayor’s Council for Women. She formerly worked as an assistant district attorney in Wake County.
Nana received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
