Brian Cromwell was profiled in SPARK Stories, a publication from Blumenthal Performing Arts. Brian became chair this year of the board of trustees for Blumenthal, which serves the Carolinas as a leading cultural, entertainment, and education provider.
The article describes Brian's backstory. He is a first-generation American to Trinidadian parents.
“My father came to the United States basically with the shirt on his back and a pregnant wife,” he said. “My mother is one of the toughest, hard-working, kindest people you’ll ever meet. The two of them guided my whole life. Everything I am and everything I will be is thanks to both of them.”
It also notes how Brian came to Charlotte 25 years ago, as well as how his career and the city have evolved.
“As Charlotte grew, I grew with it," he said.
Additionally, Brian discussed the impact Broadway and the arts can have on an individual and a community, including as America grapples with racial inequity.
