The Post and Courier wrote about a nonprofit Krista McGuire co-founded to provide support and care packages on Mother’s Day to mothers with children in critical care at MUSC.
“We wanted to do something for these moms who spend this special day at their child’s bedside,” Krista and her co-founders said of their motivation to start Lowcountry Warrior Moms 10 years ago. “We have been going strong ever since and we look forward to 2023 being our best year yet.”
The nonprofit has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support mothers with children in the hospital, including through care packages with a mix of practical and indulgent gifts. Those gifts include notepads and pens to keep track of questions for providers, a $100 Amazon gift card, chocolates, and nail polish.
The bags also include handwritten notes from other mothers and children to encourage and uplift the mothers in the hospital.
