Raleigh, NC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce several of its attorneys are again playing a leading role in the North Carolina Bar Association's mentorship program for law students interested in intellectual property. Now in its second year, the program pairs North Carolina law school students with local intellectual property attorneys to increase networking and professional development opportunities.
To date, over 60 students from all six law schools in North Carolina have matched with attorney-mentors. The program recently had its kickoff reception for this school year. It will also include monthly activities between mentors and mentees as well as a closing reception.
"If it wasn’t for joining the mentorship program, I don’t think I would have been exposed to experiences that helped serve as a stepping stone to where I am today," said Paloma Magallanes, who was a third-year law student at North Carolina Central University School of Law during the program and now works for Bagchi Law. "It was really nice to have that one-on-one mentorship and be able to ask questions. It was all so new to me, and I appreciated being able to get guidance and any suggestions I needed along the way to help develop my professional legal career path."
Tiffany Burba and Sloan Carpenter serve on the leadership council for the NCBA Intellectual Property Law Section and have been deeply involved in the mentorship program. Tiffany had the original idea for it and continues to manage it. Parker Poe attorneys who have served as mentors also include Eva Frongello, Laura Wright, Tasneem Dharamsi, and Seth Morris. The firm sponsored the kickoff reception last year and this year.
You can learn more about the program on the NCBA's website.
