Traci V. Bransford gave a fireside chat on February 7 in Las Vegas on name, image, and likeness (NIL). Her discussion was part of the 2024 Nonprofit and Small Business Summit organized by the OMBI Group Foundation.
Traci, who leads Parker Poe’s Sports & Entertainment Industry Team, provided an overview of NIL legislation as well as discussed NIL legal do’s and don’ts. She spoke alongside Kimberly Haynes, founder and CEO of OMBI Group. The fireside chat covered which states permit NIL at the high school level, which states do not, and which states are considering NIL legislation. They discussed protecting your image, financial planning, tax implications of NIL, and guidelines from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The discussion spoke directly to colleges, universities, small businesses, and student athletes. Based in Atlanta, OMBI Group is a legal services firm focusing on sports, entertainment, and executive law.
The all-day summit was held at the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Las Vegas.
In addition to her discussion, Traci presented on February 6 at OMBI Group’s Giving Gracefully awards ceremony, also in Las Vegas. Traci presented an award to Brittnie Watkins. The ceremony marked its 9th year. The annual philanthropic ceremony honors athletes, entertainers, and professionals devoted to making an impact in their community. The event is held each year in the city that hosts the Super Bowl.
