Charlotte, NC — Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Daniel Peterson was named a 2024 Southeastern Legal Awards honoree. Daniel was selected in the award program’s "On the Rise" category, which recognizes the Southeast’s most promising lawyers under the age of 40. Daniel was selected by the editors and reporters of The Daily Report and Law.com who were assisted by a panel of external judges.
Daniel Peterson focuses on local government counsel, professional negligence, and insurance disputes. He is a former assistant city attorney who has extensive litigation experience across the State of North Carolina, including at the appellate level.
Daniel chairs Parker Poe's Government & Municipalities Industry Team in North Carolina. He is also a member of the firm’s Appellate Practice Team. He has experience at the trial and appellate levels of federal and state courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Last year, Daniel argued a case of note before the North Carolina Supreme Court concerning an important question for municipalities. The court ruled in Town of Midland v. Harrell that an earlier ruling did not create a blanket rule requiring municipalities to get approval from their elected boards to authorize lawsuits. Daniel will be honored along with the other award winners at an event on June 20 at Flourish in Atlanta.
