Robb Leandro and Deb Stern provided an update on HIPAA regulations — and how surging ransomware attacks impact providers — at the Atlantic States ASC Conference. 

Robb and Deb explained what ambulatory surgery centers need to know about the new attestation and notice of privacy practices requirements under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' final HIPAA rule from April 2024.

They also walked the audience through recent trends in breaches and enforcement activity, including how the explosion of breaches and ransomware attacks has led the Office of Civil Rights to say, "Hacking is now the greatest threat to the privacy and security of protected health information."
