Steve Weber examined the current state of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) litigation during a 90-minute Strafford webinar. Steve and a panel of speakers discussed the potential impact of developing federal and state PFAS regulation on the volume and risk of litigation for an increasing number of companies.
He also highlighted notable recent litigation and novel defenses being used and offered best practices for counsel and their clients to mitigate the risk of PFAS claims and defense strategies.
The panel covered federal regulations such as the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) along with state regulations like consumer product bans and reporting as well as regulatory standards, including around groundwater.
They also reviewed the various types of litigation claims, including environmental, personal injury and property damages, and consumer class actions/green claims as well as provided an update on multidistrict litigation (MDL) and other key cases.
