Dena King moderated a panel on April 30 at the 2025 North Carolina Divine Nine Legislative Day in Raleigh.
Dena led a discussion with college presidents and elected North Carolina officials about the impacts of the latest legislative updates and executive orders on historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and students. The panel focused on orders related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the dismantling of the Department of Education (DOE), and revamping federal engagement with HBCUs.
The Divine Nine Legislative Day is an annual event that gathers leaders and members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the nine historic African American fraternities and sororities. Dena is a member of one of those, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
