Charlotte, NC – The World Affairs Council of Charlotte has elected Dom Lerario to its board of directors. In that role, Dom will help promote a focus on improving international education and discussion of world affairs. In addition, Caitlin Becker was elected to the advisory board of the Young Professionals of the World Affairs Council of Charlotte (YPWACC).
The World Affairs Council of Charlotte was founded in 1983. The nonprofit serves to advance global engagement and dialogue in the Charlotte region. The Charlotte council is a member of the World Affairs Councils of America and together with approximately 92 other such World Affairs Councils and affiliates across the country, its mission focuses on improving international education and encouraging citizens to participate in the national debate on world affairs. It does this through support of local educational institutions and offering a collection of educational and professional networking events, including a speakers series that brings internationally renowned government leaders, authors, policy makers, ambassadors, and business executives to Charlotte for in-depth conversations on topics shaping global affairs.
YPWACC is a network of internationally minded professionals, ages 21 to 40s, in the Charlotte area who are committed to engaging in social and educational activities that promote global understanding. YPWACC is dedicated to providing young adults with opportunities to "explore the world in Charlotte" through global speaker lectures, networking and social events, film screenings, happy hour discussions, professional development workshops, and cultural dining experiences.
