Raleigh, NC – The Triangle Business Journal selected Nana Asante-Smith among its inaugural winners of the Triangle Law Awards, which honor 20 outstanding attorneys in the greater Triangle area.
Nana and the other winners were selected from nominations submitted across diverse practice areas. The TBJ gave special consideration to specific accomplishments in the past year, exemplary representation of the Triangle's most important business sectors, and direct involvement in community and nonprofit activities.
Nana concentrates her practice on internal and government investigations, white collar and business litigation, and allegations of sex discrimination at colleges and universities. She has represented clients in industries such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and education. Across the board, she helps clients get to the root of the challenges they face, identify solutions, and seize opportunities. She leverages her experience as a Wake County Assistant District Attorney, where she prosecuted an array of cases.
Nana has a deep commitment to serving her community and her fellow attorneys. She is currently on the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board, chairing its Operations Committee. She is a subcommittee advisory member of the North Carolina State Bar's Grievance Committee. She also serves on the Durham YMCA's advisory board. Her previous service has included chairing the Durham Mayor's Council for Women, leading North Carolina and Durham associations representing Black lawyers, and serving on the board of directors for Duke University's alumni network in the Triangle.
In April, Nana and the other winners will be honored at a private dinner and profiled as part of a special section of the TBJ.
