Raleigh, NC – The American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division has selected Nana Asante-Smith for its On the Rise — Top 40 Young Lawyers award. The national award program recognizes attorneys who exemplify a range of high achievement along with legal and community service.
Nana focuses her practice on internal and governmental investigations, white collar and business litigation, and cases involving allegations of sex discrimination at colleges and universities. She has represented clients in industries such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and education. She works with clients to uncover the root of their challenges, identify practical solutions, and capitalize on opportunities. Nana draws on her experience as a Wake County Assistant District Attorney, where she prosecuted a wide variety of cases.
Nana is deeply committed to serving both her community and the legal profession. She currently serves on the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board and on the board of visitors at North Carolina Central University. Additionally, she serves on the advisory board for the Durham YMCA. Her previous roles include chairing the Durham Mayor’s Council for Women, leading organizations representing Black attorneys in North Carolina and Durham, and serving on the board of directors for Duke University’s alumni network in the Triangle area.
