Sheneka Lodenquai provided an overview of legal developments affecting educators and school administrators during a presentation for an Atlanta charter school on July 22, 2026.

Sheneka discussed Georgia’s Distraction-Free Education Act, including its restrictions on students’ access to personal electronic devices during the school day and the steps schools must take to establish device storage, emergency communication, monitoring, enforcement, and disciplinary procedures. She also addressed exceptions for medical devices, district-provided devices, and device use required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Individualized Education Programs, and Section 504 plans.

In addition, Sheneka reviewed recent court decisions involving parental rights, curriculum materials, student policies, and school athletics. She highlighted the importance of good judgment and professional boundaries in educators’ interactions and communications with students and colleagues.
