Susie Lloyd represents clients before state and federal courts in litigation involving data breaches, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance. She advises clients on breach response strategies, coordination of forensic investigations, regulatory notifications, and litigation defense following a data security incident.
Susie has a particular focus on helping clients navigate complex litigation and compliance challenges under state and federal data privacy laws. She has significant experience advising on privacy-related litigation strategies, including class actions brought under the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Susie regularly counsels clients on defending and mitigating risk in cases involving alleged violations of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Consumer Online Privacy Rights Act (COPRA). Her litigation work includes representing clients in high-stakes class actions involving digital tracking technologies, marketing communications, and consumer data practices, with a particular emphasis on emerging trends in VPPA and TCPA enforcement.
In addition to her litigation practice, Susie advises clients on their compliance and regulatory needs involving state and federal privacy laws, including the CCPA, COPPA, and emerging legislation across jurisdictions. She also provides strategic guidance on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), helping organizations align their data practices with evolving regulatory frameworks and ethical standards. Her advisory work includes developing privacy programs, conducting risk assessments, and supporting clients through regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Susie was a litigation attorney in the Charlotte office of two of the 100 largest global law firms. In those roles, she represented insurers in complex commercial litigation actions, including contract disputes, product liability, construction defect claims, and cyber breach claims.
Susie received her law degree from the University of Denver, where she served as editor of the Denver Law Review and Race to the Bottom, a publication that discusses trends and case law updates on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, cryptocurrency, securities law, tax law, antitrust, and other corporate law issues. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
