Business North Carolina Names Eight Parker Poe Attorneys Among 2022 Legal Elite

Charlotte, N.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that eight of its attorneys have been named among Business North Carolina magazine’s 2022 Legal Elite. Every North Carolina attorney has a chance to vote on the Legal Elite, resulting in a list the magazine describes as “the state’s top lawyers in business-related categories.”

Approximately 4% of all practicing attorneys in the state were selected this year. Below are the Parker Poe attorneys and the categories in which they were recognized.

Bankruptcy
Brian Darer is a partner in Raleigh who has represented creditors in hundreds of bankruptcies, foreclosures, and workouts. He is a North Carolina State Bar board certified specialist in business bankruptcy.

Employment
Patti Bartis has defended employers facing discrimination claims for more than 20 years. Patti regularly assists employers with compliance, training, and drafting employment agreements and policies. She also serves as Parker Poe’s Raleigh Office Development Partner.

Immigration
Todd Rubin is special counsel in Raleigh who has practiced immigration law exclusively for more than 25 years. He concentrates his practice in the area of business visas and employment-based immigration for U.S. and multinational clients.

Intellectual Property
Will Cannon is a partner in Raleigh who helps clients negotiate technology contracts and safeguard their intellectual property rights. He is skilled at analyzing contracts and explaining legal complexity. He also leads Parker Poe’s Technology Industry Team.

Litigation
Brad Overcash is a partner in Charlotte who represents clients in a broad range of litigation, including professional negligence defense, long-term care/nursing home defense, products liability, premises liability, patent litigation, commercial litigation, and general litigation.

Tax
Kay Miller Hobart is a partner in Raleigh who has more than 25 years of experience in state tax controversies and tax litigation. She has litigated numerous high profile, complex multimillion-dollar cases. She also leads Parker Poe’s Tax Group.

Jeff Morris is a partner in Charlotte who advises clients on trusts, estate planning, estate administration, and taxation. He is a North Carolina State Bar board certified specialist in estate planning and probate law.

Young Guns
Tory Summey is an associate in Charlotte who focuses on employment counseling and litigation. He helps employers proactively navigate complex and dynamic laws and regulations, including those related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
