Sarah Hutchins and Hunter Snowden presented on July 25 about the current landscape of data privacy as well as the governance and ethics of artificial intelligence as part of the EY Carolinas Ethics & Compliance Executive Roundtable in Charlotte.
Sarah and Hunter gave an overview of the growing number of state data privacy laws across the country and how they impact businesses. They also discussed how laws like the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) deal with advertising based on a consumer’s profile.
They also discussed the latest data privacy trends, including recent court cases dealing with children’s data and government claims against company executives related to cybersecurity breach enforcement.
For artificial intelligence, they presented on when companies need a policy governing how they use and deploy AI tools.
