Charleston, SC – Amy Bower recently joined Parker Poe's Charleston, South Carolina office, following five years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina, where she investigated and prosecuted federal crimes for the government. Prior to her government service, she spent eight years in private practice. At Parker Poe, Amy focuses her practice on complex litigation and government investigations in state and federal court.

As a federal prosecutor, Amy prosecuted a variety of federal offenses, which included fraud (both financial and healthcare), money laundering, and human trafficking. While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Amy was selected to, and served as, the district's healthcare fraud coordinator. In this role, she worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to create the Palmetto Health Care Fraud Task Force, which was a multi-agency task force that focused on combating healthcare fraud in South Carolina.

Amy also was one of the prosecutors for Operation Brace Yourself, a billion-dollar international fraud investigation that worked with the FBI and Health and Human Services to investigate a transnational kickback scheme. In addition, Amy prosecuted the financial crimes in Operation Trendsetter, which was a multi-agency violent crime, narcotic, and financial prosecution that received the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) 2024 case of the year award.

“We are thrilled to have extended Parker Poe’s footprint of first rate, first chair white collar experience to the District of South Carolina and beyond by adding someone of Amy’s caliber and reputation,” said Washington, DC, partner Joel Schwartz, who leads Parker Poe's White Collar & Government Investigations Group.

"I am thrilled to be joining Parker Poe’s robust white collar practice and contribute to its continued growth," Amy said. "Drawing on my experience as a federal prosecutor, I look forward to helping clients navigate complex investigations, regulatory scrutiny, and other high-stakes situations.”

In addition to Amy’s white collar practice, Amy draws on her prior civil experience and litigates cases involving disputes across industries, including construction and financial services.

Amy earned her law degree from the Charleston School of Law and her bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado.
