Robert Botkin was profiled in the Charlotte Business Journal’s 'Leaders in AI' section about his work advising businesses on artificial intelligence and how he helps clients operationalize compliance and governance as AI adoption accelerates.

"You can teach every lawyer the law, but you can’t teach every lawyer the tech," Robert told the publication.

"The legal issues haven’t necessarily sprouted in litigation yet," Robert said regarding whether companies are able to control the use of AI to have a governed rollout. "How it’s presenting right now is you have a lot of businesses and their clients who don’t want to be left behind. They want to be at the outset of adoption and rollout so they are trying to charge ahead and start implementing and will ask questions later. It’s understandable because getting left behind is a real fear. But you’ll see the top get chopped off with lawsuits or bad use cases or with someone deleting the company’s data."

"Typically, we start with what access a vendor has to data and where the data flows," Robert said. "Is it a private instance or a closed universe where the data is not used to train the model but to provide you the service? We start with RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) tools. It’s a cycle where you give it a limited set of data — your company’s policies — and then query the chat bot about what is our PTO policy? These systems lower that risk of hallucination because it retrieves data from only that data set."
