Sarah Hutchins, Robert Botkin, Susie Lloyd, and Tiffany Rowe were quoted in Corporate Compliance Insights about the top stories of 2025. The attorneys provided analysis and insights on a range of topics, from the use — and risk — of artificial intelligence (AI) for companies, the Department of Justice's implementation of a new data security program, and shifts in federal actions against corporations, including enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practice Act.

"There must be intentional misconduct before the FCPA will pose any real risk to a business." Tiffany told the publication. "Of course, [Deputy Attorney General Todd] Blanche states that this does not indicate a slowdown in DOJ’s enforcement but a shift in priorities."

Sarah and Susie gave context on the DOJ's data security program.

"The DOJ’s data security program is remarkable in that it’s been hard for our government to implement federal rules regarding data privacy and security that are not industry specific," Sarah said.

"In 2026, we expect the DOJ to bring a handful of test cases to see whether companies actually built the programs the rule assumes," Susie said.

Robert spoke about what businesses can expect in 2026 when it comes to AI use, saying that world models are increasingly viewed as the likely successor or complement to today's LLM-driven agents.

"World models allow AI systems to simulate real-world environments — objects, constraints, causal relationships and future states — enabling the system to choose actions based on how conditions are expected to change, not merely on statistical patterns in text," Robert said.
